Hratch Arbach crafts portraits that inhabit the space between memory and the present moment. Shaped by a multicultural background and a journey across East and West, his work is defined by a profound connection with his subjects, capturing presence and subtle moments of genuine human expression.
He also documents spaces and architecture with the same sensitivity, revealing the character and atmosphere of each environment. His clients include CHANEL, Karl Lagerfeld, and leading architectural studios.
Arbach holds a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Paris VII and studied photography at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD). After fifteen years in Paris and a decade in New York City, his path gradually took on a nomadic character, eventually leading him to Shanghai.
Alongside his photographic practice, Arbach is a visual artist whose work explores collective memory, belonging, and resilience.
